The original Turntable at New Romney was situated outside the loco shed, and was the only way in or out. In 1935 Northern Chief rolled into the turntable pit, and blocked all the other locos in, suspending all passenger services. After this, the turntable was moved next to the shed, where it remained until the late 80s, when it was replaced.
