This loco spent its working life on the Somerset and Dorset Joint line across the Mendips. Designed by the Midland railway, but built by Robert Stephenson & Co, it was one of the batch with larger boilers. Later it was fitted, as shown, with the original smaller type of boiler. There is a spacer under the smoke box that shows this change.

This S&DJR 2-8-0 has recently returned to steam at Butterley, but is set to return to its old territory in March 2006 when it will be on display at Sainsbury's supermarket in Bath. The covered car park at the store is the former train shed of the S&DJR's Bath Green Park station. After that it is due to appear at the West Somerset Railway's S&DJR themed event on March 17th to 19th.
