The former Swedish State Railways S Class 2-6-2T No. 1178 may not be steaming again anytime soon sadly as the locomotive has cracked frames which are beyond repair and during my recent visit to the Nene Valley Railway I was told that No. 1178 will be used for spares for other locomotives at the railway.

There has been some news on the former Swedish State Railways S Class 2-6-2T No. 1178 as of 2020 the locomotive has been sold by its owner to the Nene Valley Railway for a brighter future. No. 1178 remains in storage at Wansford shed but it is hoped that restoration will start one day soon when time and funding in available.

The Swedish locomotive SJ No. 1178 is currently in storage in the running shed at Wansford still in bits but I think there work still going on slowly. It may get a full overhaul soon once the overhauls on Danish Railways 0-6-0T No. 656 "Tinkerbell" and BR Standard No. 73050 "City of Peterborough" are completed in a few years time.

Locomotive is stripped down and work is being done on the frames and the horn guides at the moment.
