It looks as if 61994 The Great Marquess may never steam or be out running on the mainline or heritage railways again following the sad news that her current owner John Cameron plans to put her on display at a prepose railway muesum on his farmland in Fife Scotland. Where it will be joined by LNER A4 Pacific 60009 Union of South Africa when her mainline and boiler ticket runs out in 2019. Till then 61994 is currently in store at Gromont Shed on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Nigel Gresley's class K4 design for the West Highland line to Fort William featured his 3 cylinder conjugated valve gear design. The loco carries the name 'The Great Marquess' and has a brass bell donated by the Pennsylvania RR because it had the same class name as the famous Pennsy K4 pacifics. In 1998, it developed a problem with the crank axle and hasn't run since. However, a new crank axle is to be made at Ian Riley's Bury works where the wheels will also receive new tyres. The rest of the overhaul will take place at the workshops of L&NWR at Crewe.
