With its repairs now completed and now fully painted in BR Black livery with an early crest, marking the first time an S15 has carried the early BR crest in preservation, ex Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 30506, has been out on test at the Mid Hants Railway (the Watercress Line) in readiness for its visit to the Swanage Railway for their Autumn Steam Gala and should be back at the Mid Hants Railway in time for their Autumn Steam Gala from the 3rd to 5th of October 2025.

The ex Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 30506, will visit the Swanage Railway for the first time for their Autumn Steam Gala from the 12th to 14th of September 2025.

With its repairs nearly completed, the ex Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 506, is being repainted into British Railways unlined black livery with its BR running number No. 30506 reapplied for when it returns to traffic at the Mid Hants Railway (the Watercress Line) soon.

The ex Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 506, has had to be taken out of service for the short-term for some firebox repairs and will now not be part of the the line-up of steam locomotives operating at the Mid-Hants Railway (the Watercress Line) during their Spring Steam Gala from the 25th to 27th of April 2025.

The ex Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 506 is visiting the Great Central Railway to be one of two visiting locomotives for their Winter Steam Gala on the 27th to 29th of January 2023.

The former Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 506 will visit the Severn Valley Railway in the place of Terrier No. 2678 for their Spring Steam Gala from the 21st to the 24th of April 2022. This will be No. 506’s first visit to another preserved railway away from its Mid Hants Railway base.

No. 506 is now back in service again following completion of its overhaul and was hauling its first trains at the Mid-Hants Railway today for the first time since 2001.

Southern Railway S15 Class 4-6-0 No. 506 is in its final stages of its overhaul and is due to enter service at the Mid-Hants Railway from the 2nd of June 2019. The loco has been painted in 1940s Southern Wartime Black livery.
