I am a volunteer at Tanfield, the only income is made when people visit the site and go on the train, we do get some small grants.

Does Tanfield Railway get ay kind of funding,  for restoration, such as the national lottery? if not why not, it certainly should.

This is one of the small fleet of similar crane tanks that inhabited the shipyards of Doxfords in Sunderland. The design dates back to 1902, although Hendon (named after a suburb of Sunderland, not the one in London) was not built by Stephenson & Hawthorn until the 1940's. With sister loco Roker (also part of Sunderland) it was built up from parts made for an unfulfilled order of 1918. Several of these delightful little crane tanks have been preserved.
