The overhaul and rebuild on ex NCB Bold Colliery Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST Works No. 3694 "Whiston" makes good progress as the boiler and the mainframes along with the wheels are all being worked on and a complete new smokebox, saddle tank and chimney have been manufactured. There are also plans for some modifications to the loxcomotive as "Whiston" will have an improved vacuum ejector and associated pipwork with it and the fitment of a battery powered LED lighting and the fitment of an American S160 Chime whistle alongside the Stanier hooter whistle and airbrakes. It is hoped that "Whiston" will be in steam again in 2024 or 2025.

The former NCB Bold Colliery Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 3694 "Whiston" has been withdrawn from service for her 10 year overhaul. "Whiston" last ran on New Years Day 2020.

The ex NCB Bold Colliery Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 3694 "Whiston" will be staying on at the Churnet Valley Railway till July 2019 as the locomotive will be operating over the early summer season with a special Tank Engines weekend to be held on the 18th and 19th of May 2019.

The ex NCB Bold Colliery Hunslet built Austerity 0-6-0ST "Whiston" is visiting the Churnet Valley Railway for a 3 month visit as extra motive power on their Santa Specials and Mice Pie Specials over the Christmas season. Then the loco will stay for their Winter Steam Gala on the 23rd and 24th of February 2019. Where its planed for No. 3694 "Whiston" to work doubleheaded with Polish Tkh 0-6-0T No. 2944 "Hotspur" up the Cauldon Low branch to Ipstone unassisted which will be one of the highlights of the Gala.
