Worked for the Millom Hematite Ore & Iron company at their Hodbarrow mine. Was not in a good state when first preserved. Stored for many years at various sites including Middleton railway and Armley Mills in Leeds. Only rusty wheels, frame and boiler were left. The loco was beyond restoration to service so has been excellently cosmetically restored.

Hodbarrow was a large iron ore mine, 25 millon tons of ore being removed. Being near to the sea, large concrete blocks were used as barriers to hold back the sea. When mine closed the site flooded. The lagoon formed is a nature reserve.
