Having worked its last trains over the Christmas season, the former Birchenwood Gasworks Bagnall built 0-6-0ST (Works No. 2680) No. 4 "Courageous" ("Birchenwood"), has now been withdrawn from service having come to the end of its 10 year boiler ticket and is now awaiting overhaul.

WB 2680 originally operated by Birchenwood Gas & Co at Stoke on Trent, Number No 4 and named Birchenwood. It worked there until 1973.

It now operates at the Ribble Steam Railway which is located on the old Preston docklands. The engine has been renamed 'Courageous' and externally altered to resemble one of the seven Preston Docks Bagnall locomotives. Modifications include a spark arrestor top on the chimney and steam heating equipment.
