The ex Linby Colliery, rebuilt Hunslet 0-6-0T Works No. 2409 "King George", has gone on a hired visit to the Epping Ongar Railway as extra motive power for the 2026 season and will remain there until the Autumn of 2026.

The ex Linby Colliery rebuilt Hunslet 0-6-0T Works No. 2409 "King George", is currently on an extended visit to the Ribble Steam Railway and is working their Santa Specials over Christmas.

The ex Linby Colliery rebuilt Hunslet 0-6-0T Works No. 2409 "King George", will be visiting the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway for the very first time for their Hunslet Gala from the 27th to 29th of June 2025.

The ex Linby Colliery rebuilt Hunslet 0-6-0T Works No. 2409 "King George", is doing its first visit away from its home base at Didcot, for a visit to Fawley Hill at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, for their Fawley Hill Vintage Festival over the weekend of the 17th to 19th of May 2024.

The ex Linby Colliery rebuilt Hunslet 0-6-0T Works No. 2409 "King George" has now been fully painted and has been turned out in Great Eastern Railway Blue livery and is all set to operate on the Santa Specials at Didcot Railway Centre over the Christmas season.

The ex Linby Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0T Works No. 2409 "King George" will be debuting in service at Didcot Railway Centre during their big steam up event over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of September 2022, subject to passing its final boiler exam.

The overhaul and rebuild on ex Linby Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0ST Works No. 2409 "King George" is now complete and the locomotive is now a 0-6-0T but is a surprise move has not been turned out as Thomas the Tank Engine as instead the locomotive has been painted in the Dark Blue livery of the National Coal Board with its nameplates now being on the new side tanks. "King George" will make her public detbut in steam during the Platuinum Jubilee weekend at Didcot.

It turns out that ex Linby Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0ST Works No. 2409 "King George" is still being rebuilt as a 0-6-0T as its still being turned out as Thomas the Tank Engine. The locomotive is now in the final stages of overhaul.

With the locomotive now in the final stages of its overhaul as its boiler has been refitted to the mainframes its been decided by Didcot that ex Linby Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0ST Works No. 2409 "King George" will remain as it is as a saddle tank locomotive as the plans to have it rebuilt as Thomas the Tank Engine have now been abandoned. Once the overhaul is completed the locomotive will be made available for hire to other preserved railways around the UK.

The former Linby Colliery Hunslet built 0-6-0ST (soon to be a 0-6-0T) Works No. 2409 "King George" aka (Thomas The Tank Engine) has undergone its first boiler steam test at Didcot today as the overhaul and rebuild to the locomotive is now in its final stages of completion.

Now sold and moved to Didcot, where it will be converted into a 'Thomas' character loco. The original parts that will have to be removed for this conversion will be stored so that it can return to its original appearance at a later date if required.
