locomotive has an unusual gauge of 41 in. this is possibly because it and other locomotives like it, were designed for use in mines and areas where a fireless steam locomotive, such as an 0-6-0F, proved either more expensive to opperate, or was unavalible. compressed air locomotives in general tend to be much simper than other locomotives, and somewhat cheaper
