For a look at Number 2 while still at Camden, Texas, see my story "Iron horses put out to pasture" on the RailroadPhotoEssays.com site http://www.railroadphotoessays.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1068

Reader RR is alive and well, the number 2 is under FRA inspection and the number 4 would be if we wanted it to be. No track has been removed, and, in fact there have been many improvements made to rolling stock and facilities in preparation for filming a Coen Brothers remake of " True Grit". Mr Jenkins has nothing to do with Reader RR or any of its principles, and have no idea who he is or what he is doing.

This locomotive also starred in the oscar winning movie "There Will Be Blood"

The #2 Is now under steam. It has recently stared in two big Hollywood Movies, one of which being a remake of the classic "3:10 To Yuma". I do not know the name of the other movie. As of the date of this posting, all equipment should be back in reader (but I am not sure). If you want to see more pictures of the restored locomotive in its movie dress, check out this page on Ken Ziegenbein's Train Weather Website. http://www.trainweather.com/Reader122606-Reagon.html

The No.2 I currently under restoration at Reader Arkansas. Plans are to revive the Reader Railroad and begin operations within a year. The two coaches are back from florida, and they are building a gas powered rail bus. lso on teh property is the No.7, a 2-6-2, slated for restoration after work on the 2 is completed, as well as a boxcar, two aboses (one in bad shape), and a tanker. They are also supposed o be getting the D&R No.4 (a 4-4-0 I think) by the end of teh summer. It is steamable. Plans are in April of 2005 to cut several trees on the property, fire up the old saw mill behind teh engine house, and cut new ties for the railroad. I wouldn't miss this event.

W.T. Carter Bros. #2 has 41" drivers, not 47" as stated here.  This was my favorite of the engines at Reader.  It runs well and has a lot of "pep" and it will really get up and go.  Nice sharp exhaust when under load.
