As of May 2013, Cliffside #110 has been cosmetically restored to her Cliffside colors. We are gathering any and all information on the locomotive and will soon remove her boiler tubes so that we can get a closer look. New Hope Valley Railway and the NC Railroad Museum

110 is now in Bonsal as of this morning, February 6, 2013.

They have been successful. The 110 is coming to Bonsal, NC on the New Hope Valley Railway for restoration to operation.

I would think so, since it was withdrawn because of running gear issues, not those of the boiler, as is the case with the other 2. That picture, though, suggests otherwise. It was apparently stripped of its insulation, jackets and the rest of its coverings. I'm a bit worried about the boiler now. Although they gave it a fresh paint job a few years ago and thus it no longer looks rusty, it is still exposed and more vunerable.

Out of all engines on Stone Mountain this would be the best choice to restore to steam since it's boiler is in pretty decent shape. Unfortunately the Railroad doesn't have any interest into bringing steam back to Stone Mountain.

This is actually Cliffside #110. It was never motorized, meerly worn out.

This locomotive last operated under steam in 1983. 

The running gear came unglued in the fall of 1984 while being pushed by the diesel. It was patched up enough to move but was never operated on a train again. It sat at the shop for about 10 years and was then moved to the main station for display.

 This locomotive was an early victim of the Stone Mountain Memorial Assoc. abandonment of steam.

The locomotives lagging (asbestos) was removed a few years ago. Unfortunately during this time, the locomotive was stripped of parts by the Silver Dollar City people for their Dollywood operation.

There has been some interest in rail circles in North Carolina about trying to return the locomotive to NC where it became somewhat famous on the Cliffside RR.

I certainly hope they are successful in that endeavor...
