#4 was the first 36" Crown and the only one tested at East Broad Top. When Six Gun auctioned the rides in 1986, someone in Arizona bought both trains, but I have never found out who. They instead went to Texas.

This locomotive is on display at the Kirby Family Farm in Williston as a gate guardian of sorts. Due to its condition, I believe the long term plan is to eventually install a diesel hydraulic engine so that it can at least run on the rails again. Sister locomotive #7 is also on site and is presently being stored in the siding.

Locomotive was removed from Atlanta Underground today (8/30/17). It is being moved to the Kirby Family Farm in Williston, FL where it will become a display piece.

Yes, it is still there. It is no longer lettered for Warner Bros., just for Underground Atlanta. Still needs a headlight!

As far as I'm concerned, it's still there at the Underground, though I hven't been there lately. You may be thinking of no. 7 which is in Texas. Wish they would put this engine's headlight back on!

I'm Blake Harris, the manager of the Jefferson & Cypress Bayou Railway.  Regarding Crown #4, the information you have is mostly correct except that she was not a coal burner.  Like #7 she was built to burn wood but probably converted to propane.  I actually still have one of her builder plates but would have to take a look to see what the number is.  Her official name is the "General Sam Houston" while the #7 is the "Robert E. Lee".

Her boiler is indeed bad.  Not only that, but many of her parts were taken for repairs on the #7 and she is probably missing many of her original fittings.  Unless Warner Bros. finds a place for her and spends the 10's of thousands to get her back into shape she'll probably never run again.

Since the #7 did not have a boiler stamp (that we could find) we don't know exact build dates, but we're 99% confident that the boilers were built in 1962 with the locomotives being assembled in 1964.

Her cylinders are 9"x16" and her drivers are approx 45"

Tractive effort is less than the later Crowns, probably somewhere around 4500 lbs.  Boiler horsepower is probably close to 20.

Most of this information applies to both the #4 and the #7, the difference being that the 7 is in operation (propane fired) on our railroad.

"Ownership" button did not come up on this one, so this is what I know. Originally built for Six Gun Territory in Silver Springs, Florida. Both #4 and sister #7 were auctioned in the mid 1980s after the park closed. Both went to Jefferson, TX. #4 was on display at the Jefferson Inn for several years before being sold to Georgia. #7 still runs on the Jefferson and Cypress Bayou RR.
