ACL 143 was recently restored this past month once again and has a brand new coat of paint. Well, 4 coats of paint to help keep it from rust and weathering. The Railroad Museum of South Florida is also in the process of building an museum to house Florida Railroad History next to the old playground. A new playground will be built towards the parking lot. The RRMSF is currently looking for an ACL or SCL caboose for birthday parties to be located behind the 143. The RRMSF is currently looking for a bell and whistle to put on old 143. If you have any information, photos or parts (steam pumps, whistles, bells) please contact the RRMSF by Dean Gordon (dgmarklin at AOL.com) or click on the link at - www.trainweb.org/lprr/ - Thanks, Dean Gordon RRMSF Volunteer

I visited this locomotive a few years ago, and she was prepped up rather nicely, on display under a shelter in the park. The historical society has done a nice job on her cosmetic restoration.

Why is this locomotive still in the sad shape that I photographed her in back in Tampa in 1984!!!! The Ft Myers Railroad Historical Museum was supposed to restore it and I know they raised the money to do so but what happen to the money. Looks like all they did was the tender!  If interested I have photos of this loco in service on both the ACL and Agrico.
