The Sydney steam trams were at their peak in 1895 with over a 100 steam trams and 40 miles of routes. By 1905 the new electric trams were replacing steam trams in the city centre.

By 1910 this loco was in New Zealand working on a Gonville & Castlecliff tramway extension. It was in use until 1912 on the Wanganui line, then rarely used except for a brief time in 1920 due to power supply failure and again in 1950 when the tramway closed.

Now part of the MOTAT collection, and restored by them. Of the three surviving Sydney steam trams this is the least modified as many Sydney modifications to its fleet came after 1910
