K-28 No. 473 has now returned to service as an oil burner, and looks absolutely magnificent! Please change status to operational.

as of 2020,473 is getting a firebox rebuild and conversion to oil.

The "Alco-Schenectady Construction Number List" indicates that Construction Numbers 64981 through 64990, Road Numbers 470 through 479, were shipped to "Denver & Rio Grande Western" during September of 1923.

a truck loaded with potatoes ran into this engine in the Durango yard back in the 1970s.....The driver of the truck quit his job and became a preacher!!
