How old in this picture?  When i saw this engine in 2000 it was in great (at least cosmetic) shape.  I understand she has massive frame issues.  The man at the museum i talked to said they hoped to restore her, but knowing what is wrong with her, it would be lucky if the could tow her out to the turntable!

The frame is reportedly broken in five places and welded back together. also some very bad quarter-slip on one driver, and also extensive firebox work is needed. Other RGS engines that are preserved reportedly have similar problems. I understand RGS No. 41 also has frame problems. This is attributed to use of small engines to buck snow and their repeated use on maximum tonnage trains. Frame problems, especially, are very hard to deal with as the frame's near-perfection is crucial to bearings running cool and lasting a while.

This locomotive is now on display in the D&SNG Museum.  It does burn oil, at least since it's conversion in the late 60's by an amusment park in Golden, Colorado.
