The 4005 was badly wrecked, with a couple of the crew members killed, in an accident on Sherman Hill on April 27, 1953. The Forney Museum held a commemoration of the incident on the 50th anniversary of it in 2003. Family of the crew were there, as well as two engineers who had operated the 4005. A model company has also produced a very detailed and very expensive model of the 4005.
