The former Finnish State Railways 5ft gauge Tk3 Class 2-8-0 No. 1103 has not been scrapped as its still intact and is looking for a new home as the owner of Summercourt Scrapyard Ltd has placed the locomotive up for sale. The scrapyard at Newquay is now closed and is being cleared and the locomotive is being offered to a good new home along with all its fittings that are stored in a container along with its tender too. No. 1103 was one of 12 steam locomotives brought to the UK from Finland in 1990 when that country’s strategic reserve was disbanded at the end of the cold war. No. 1103 was moved to the Spirit of the West American Theme Park at Retallack in Cornwall where it was on display until 2009 when the theme park went into liquidation and closed. The locomotive was moved to Summercourt Scrapyard Ltd for storage as part of a planned glamping project that sadly fell through. No. 1103 has been at Newquay for 10 years and despite the her state the locomotive is in good restorable condition and is set to go to a good home.

Images exist of the locomotive c.2014, still in Summercourt Scrap Yard who were intending on restoring and plinthing the loco outside the yard. Whether this actually happened is unknown.

This locomotive was transferred to the ownership of a bank in lieu of unpaid debts relating to the theme park it was located on, and apparently was subsequently sold by the bank for scrap as the most expedient way to recover finances quickly. Believed dismantled in 2010/11. No parts were recovered for posterity.
