This is one of the LMS design 8F locos supplied to Turkey during the Second World War. The UK was unable to fulfill a prewar order for some locomotives and diverted a batch of locos intended for use by the British Army. Check out the album photo of the tender axlebox cover which has WD on it, for War Department.

It has many features added whilst in Turkey. The German style smokebox door, the air reservoir on the running plate, the electric generator near the chimney and the cowcatcher. The air pump is on the opposite side of the smokebox. However, it still shows its LMS origins.
