The 2006 built replica 0-4-0G locomotive "Puffing Billy" recently returned to traffic early in the year at Beamish following a protracted winter maintenance programme, which saw the boiler retubed, the tender wheelsets and bearings overhauled, the cladding renewed and some modifications made to the locomotive to improve future maintenance access. Since then the locomotive is performing well at the Pockerley Waggonway at the North of England Open Air Museum.
