I believe my grandfather ran this locomotive for the Hastings lumber company about 100 years ago his name was Bill Surgenor.

The photograph shows the locomotive as built, however later it was rebuilt to 0-4-4T. Does any-one can confirm and give a rebuild date?

THE EMORY LOCOMOTIVE KNOWN AS OLD CURLY WAS BY ALL OTHER ACCOUNTS BUILT IN 1869 NOT 1879. THERE ARE PLANS TO MOVE THIS LOCOMOTIVE TO YALE B.C. WHERE IT HELPED BUILD THE WESTERN PART OF THE CPR AFTER ARRIVING IN B.C. IN 1881. THE WEIGHT WAS REPORTED TO BE ABOUT 16 TONS IN 1882. IT WAS BUILT IN SAN FRANCISCO.
