As of october of 2012 engine 70 went in the shop for extensive work on the boiler and chassis and as of octoer of 2014 she was back in service

As of the first day of the season she is running, she has little problem getting up the hill, unlike 192

Back to traditions.. Sporting a new paint scheme resemblance of Klondike Kate 192 in the beginning as rebel railroad. Yellow trim and a star on the pistons. The lights go back where they belong on a WP&Y loco. Nearly everything in the past three years have been restored on her.

I was at dollywood today and ask one of the crewmen about engine 70 and he said that engine 70 will be operating later on this month or in september after the engine has made 18 trips along the route

There Are many White Pass and Yukon steam locomotive many of which are operational numbers 70 and 71 are sister locomotives of operational Mikado number 73. 70-73 and other WPY locomotives were bought new by the railroad working along side borrowed K-28 class locomotives From the Denver and Rio Grande Western only 3 remain and all of them are operational

My family took me on vacations here for 14 summers, my last 4-5 years of going there I rode in the cab. I was at Dollywood 3 years ago and they still allow cab rides. I have rode in both of their engines un countable times. I recomend if you go there just to ask if they still give cab rides.

For the 2005 season, the Radley-Hunter spark arresting smoke stacks have been removed from the Dollywood locomotives.  The park is now using a different device to reduce cinder output.  The Radley-Hunter stacks had been on the locomotives since 1996.

Operated in 2004 season and pulled the trains up until July when the 190 took over the duty. It is in fact operational.

#70 was Restored in the 80's and ran until 1997 when she was removed from Operation for a Overhaul. She returned to Operation in 1999 and is now Dollywood's Prime Locomotive.

Locomotive #70 was oil fored in Alaska and then converted to coal which she remains.
