The latest news from the North British Locomotive Preservation Group is that the loco is to remain at Wondermil and the museum is to cosmetically restore the loco and display it with some appropriate South African coaching stock.

The North British Locomotive Preservation Group are negotiating with the Wondermil Military Museum for the loco to be displayed, rather than stored at the site.

Following its purchase by the North British Locomotive Group the ex Richards Bay Coal Terminal North British built 4-8-2T No. 3 has been moved from Reefsteamers depot at Germiston in Johannesburg and has been relocated too the Wonderboom Transport Museum near Pretoria.

The ex Richards Bay Coal Terminal North British built 4-8-2T No. 3 has been bought for preservation by the UK based North British Locomotive Preservation Group. Having reached the full purchase price for No. 25916 which has been paid for the locomotive. But funding is still open as the Group still need to raise another £2,000 to cover road haulage costs to move the locomotive to a safe storage site and a new paint job.

The former Richards Bay Coal Terminal North British built 4-8-2T No. 3 is the subject to a appeal by the North British Locomotive Preservation Group to buy it and possible repatriation back to the UK for preservation. If successful the locomotive will be overhauled back in to working order in the UK which would make it the only working 3ft 6in gauge locomotive in the UK.
