I was a hostler for the Elk River Coal & Lumber Co. at Swandale, W.Va.,I fired the No. 19 up for the first time when it came to Swandale. Raymond Davis and I were sent to Cherry River Boom & Lumber to bring the 18 & 19 to Swandale. My Dad Theodore Burdette was Engineer on 19 while it was at SWandale, I have many logging photos of this engine.

The tender at the rear of the main loco frame is a new welded one, apparently underway at Tampa, FL.  The locomotive is largely stripped and incomplete of many accessories.

This shay was stored in the former Lima Locomotive Works for several years in the 1990's, after having been purchased and moved in from Florida.  It was intended for a world class railroad museum, located in the LLW erecting hall, being promoted by American House, Inc., a local Lima organization.  The project didn't fly, the LLW complex was demolished,  and the Shay was sold to the Auglaize Township Historical Society and moved to Harrod.  From I-75 at Lima, take State Route 309 east about 6 miles, turn at the sign to Harrod, four miles south.  The Shay is displayed with an Erie RR bay window caboose, directly on the right of way of the abandoned Erie RR double track right of way.  A shelter was erected over the equipment in about 2002.
