I believe this beguiling little engine is a Porter Tank Locomotive from around 1919. There are no identifying markings as far as a nameplate. The chimney resembles that of a Porter. This locomotive has been sitting idle for many years and is probably a long way from economical repair. It was withdrawn from service in the 1930s and replaced with a diesel-hydraulic unit. Alamo Portland Cement closed years ago and the locomotive was sitting in their private park for all that time. In the late 1990's, the cement factory was remodelled into a retail shopping center called Alamo Quarry Market, and the adjacent limestone quarry(where this locomotive once operated) was made into a golf course. The little engine is now on display in a quiet portion of Alamo Quarry Market behind a Bally's Fitness Center. There is also a Plymouth Diesel-Hydraulic unit of the same gauge on display a couple of hundred feet away.
