Pickering Lumber No. 2 was built by the Heisler Company in 1918 for the Hetch Hechy Railroad and was used to transport construction material for a dam that would supply water via aqueduct to San Francisco. It may have worked tender to tender on Hetch Hetchy with Santa Maria Valley No. 1000 (also on display at Travel Town Museum,) then with Hetch Hecthy No. 4. In 1923 No. 2 was sold to Standard Lumber Company, witch would one day become Pickering Lumber.
