433 is currently in good condition, but could use a wash as she is covered in dust. An interesting story is, during her tenure as the Bristol switcher, she was sent as a helper with 382 and one of the other Creeper regulars for a ballast train. The trip was made famous as 433 was uncoupled in White Top and ran tender back to Abingdon. A rare feat to run an engine tender first for a 30 mile run.

Martin: The 433 was never owned by the Strasburg. The Strasburg owns and operates former Norfolk and Western 4-8-0 #475 in regular service. She wears her N&W paint, whistle (she has 3 shop built replicas. An 8 inch hooter, a 12 inch hooter, and a 3 chime. The 8 inch is used most often. The others see very sporadic use.) as well as a proper headlight placement

One of 6 serviving 4-8-0's in the US. I heard that it was at one time owned by the Strasburg railroad. She is well maintained for a park engine and is safe from vandalism and weather. The regular runners on the Creeper line had to have there smokestacks made so they wouldn't catch any trees or grass on fire and so the wouldn't ruin clothes on lines when they passed by. Trains didn't run at night.

#433 is in pretty good shape. The headlamp is not its original since it was destroyed by vandals. #433 didn't work as a regular on the Virginia Creeper but as a backup. The regular runners were all scrapped.
