1187 is owned by Strasburg RR. It is undergoing (a slow) restoration to operational status. SRR considers this a "fair weather" project.

1187 was the last operating Camelback steamer in the US.

1187 should get shop time this year. Then we should know whether it will be restored for operation.

Update: 4 is in the strasburg shops being disassembled after recently having its abestos removed.  No word yet on its progress.

As of now this locomotive hasn't felt steam in her boiler in almost 34 years.  Lets hope she still remembers what its like.

Update on 1187's condition! It now is in front of the SRC(strasburg Railroad)'s shops awaiting her turn in the restoration shop. Could possibly replace diesel switcher 44-tonner #33
