759 is not under restorration. The only work being done to her as of 2010 is the removal of asbestos. Maybe one day she will run again.

I visited Steamtown last summer and saw this locomotive in the shops undergoing restoration, along with two others. The Steamtown website also has a picture of it in teh shops.

This engine was restored to serivce around 1968. It was overe hauled by NKP At shops in OHio and then never put in to service. Engine became part of Steamtown. Around 1967 Ross E. Rolland Jr. talked to F. Nelson Blount about restoreing 759 for serivce on main line excursions. Blount died on August 31, 1967, but the Steamtown Foundation completed the loan to Rolland's High Iron Co.

Engine was used on many main line excursions: 1969 Golden Spike 100 ann., Horseshoe Curve, Hoboken to Palmerton PA, NJ to Scranton ( 1974, Railfan's first cover photo) and trips on D&H. WHile on D&H , the engine was not properly stored in winter and a few flues broke along with some other things b/c water wasn't drained. D&H refused to make repairs so it was returned to VT and never fixed.
