Has just had its first test run to check the new driver centers as of a few days ago. October 1st, 2024. It is now back in service.

Engine has moved for first time under own power, and is completely back together. Restoration is officially completed. Please change status to operational.

16 just got test fired earlier this past week or so. It shouldn’t be long before the cab, compressors, lagging jacketing, hydrostatic lubricator fastening bolts, running gear eccentrics, crank, connecting rods, warning bell, sand domes, steam dome cover, etc are added. It shouldn’t be long when she operates under her own power.

With the EBT reopening, No. 16 status is now restoration. It is expected to be the first steam locomotive to haul excursions again. The hope at the earliest as of this writing is 2021.
