Pictured hauling Railway Touring Co's Severn Coast Express in 2016. The train arrived at Bishops Lydeard from Paddington hauled by 45699 'Galatea' and 53808 took the train forward from there.

Designed at Derby, built in Darlington and operating over the Mendip Hills in Somerset, this is the classic front end of S&DJR 7F No.53808 outside Minehead depot on 25 May 1996. Notice the smokebox saddle. The locos built by Robert Stephenson & Co had a larger diameter boiler so when fitted with the smaller diameter boiler, a spacer had to be added to get the right height - which is clearly seen in this photo
