London, Brighton & South Coast Railway No. 46 'Newington' 32646 W8 2 8 'Freshwater' Havenstreet, Hampshire
For a while the loco was preserved outside a pub called the 'Puffing Billy' at Hayling Island. A pub sign is a rare use for a locomotive, but the LBSCR 'Terriers' had a long association with the Hayling Island branch. The photo dates from 1970. The loco has been rescued and restored to an Isle of Wight identity as 'Freshwater'
