This locomotive, apparently, came to the UK from Switzerland where it had previously been purchased for the Schinznacher Baumschulbahn in 1986. Named DRAKENSBERG and converted from its original gauge of 610mm to 600mm, and was there until at least 2001.

The having completed its test runs the ex South African Railways Hanomag (Hannover-Linden) built NGG16 Class 2-6-2+2-6-2 Garratt No. 60 is now back in service and will soon be hauling its first passenger trains in the UK for the very first time soon.

The overhaul on the ex South African Railways Hanomag (Hannover-Linden) built NGG16 Class 2-6-2+2-6-2 Garratt No. 60 has now been completed and the locomotive has strated undergoing test runs on the Vale of Rheidol Railway before entering service soon.

The location for No. 60 needs to be changed as the locomotive is now in the UK and is at the Vale of Rheidol Railway in Wales where it is being overhauled for use there.

Sorry it should have said has moved to the Vale of Rheidol Railway in Wales where it will be overhauled for eventual use there.

In a very surprise move former South African Railways and SchBB Garrett No. 60 has been bought and shipped to the UK and has moved the Vale of Rheidol Railway where it will be overhauled for eventual use there.
