Visited the museum on 3-23-24 talked with a volunteer and actually walked in and saw the locomotive in the shops it is no longer undergoing operational restoration it will now only be a cosmetic

The Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, Alabama has removed the cab, saddle tank, and front smoke box door to allow for closer boiler inspections. It is hoped that #3 can be returned to steam and operate on our line; one day!
