Built as DRB No.52.2312 in 1943, it continued to carry that number with the DR until 1963. It was then re-constructed by AW Stendal, emerging as DR Rekolok No. 52 8096 which it carried for the rest of its working life, through to purchase by ÖGEG, direct from its previous operator in Germany.
