The company was The Southern RAILWAY! Not all US companies took the title "Railroad" and the Southern was one that did not. Take a look at their herald. Please check your facts before adding comments.

Southern Railway #542 has recently been cosmetically restored to her original Atlantic and Yadkin paint scheme by volunteers at the North Carolina Transportation Museum. She has her original tender, as is availible to be seen outside of the NCTM roundhouse.

Restored as Atlantic & Yadkin 542 on display. Has tender from 604. Traded by City of Winston-Salem for IC 0-8-0 for Tanglewood Park. Trade & move made possible by Winston-Salem NRHS.

Gentlemen, I have a large picture of the Southern Railway No. 542 on my wall in my model train room. The picture is about 4ft. long x 2.5ft high. The 542 has just been cosmetically updated to appear in a movei segment at Spencer. She should be looking quite nice for 07 Railfan Days. As soon as the museum is able to obtain about 700K, they'll be able to give her a complete restoration. Sounds like a good investment to me.
