Following the death of Jim Wrinn, The North Carolina Transportation Museum is currently raising funds to evaluate the locomotive for restoration to operating condition. That being said, it might be awhile for any work actually takes place.

Currently the Graham County #1925 Shay is out of service due to the need of boiler work. She is NOT currently is operation, rather she is on display in the Bob Julian Roundhouse. By word of mouth, THe #1925 will be the first steam priority at the NCTM due to the links of NC. However, the chances of steam at the NCTM are unlikely due to the lack of funding from the state of NC.

Engine 1925's boiler time is expired. She is on display because the museum doesn't want to have 2 engines in pieces. Once the #4 is done, engine 1925 will go in for a new set of tube, wheels & tires, and fire box work. Engine 1925 will run again but not for a while. It will be a while before engine 4 is back.

Dave, I don't think that she is going to stay on display. I think that she is still going to operate in the future, but they will work on #4 first. So I would probably expect to see her running in the future. I hope.
