two things: first, this is the only loco supposed to be saved by the NYC. The other mowhawk in indiana was accidently preserved. few NYC steamers survived because the president hated them and scrapped as many as he could. That's why there's no more NYC hudsons. Second, I just saw this loco five days ago. It is in awful cosmetic shape, with rust everywhere. But, it was outside the restoration shop, which hopefully means it will be painted again soon.
