A classic Beyer Peacock locomotive type. Just like the ones supplied to the Isle of Man Railway, except for the gauge.

All the same features are there. The outside frame pony truck. The inclined cylinders. The running number on the chimney. Even that slight backward slope to the smokebox front.

variants of this type with different wheel arrangements were exported world wide as both tank and tender engines. A winner for Manchester.
