The overhaul on ex LMS 8F 2-8-0 No. 48151, has now been completed at West Coast Railway Company’s Depot at Carnforth and is currently awaiting mainline testing.

LMS 8F 2-8-0 No. 48151 the only 8F that is currently mainline registered has been withdrawn from service to undergo its 10 year overhaul having hauled its final mainline railtour over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Sorry my mistake having just read some reports there was no test run at the start of the month but there has been some repair work done tho.

48151 is back on the mainline again having had some overhaul work and was tested early this month with 45690 "Leander" to Hellifield and back. The 8F is currently working trips over the Settle and Carlisle Railway over the summer.

The only LMS 8F that is a current mainline runner 48151 has been withdrawn from service from mainline running and is currently in store at West Coast Railway Company s depot at Carnforth waiting for its next overhaul.

Stanier's classic eight coupled freight loco was selected as a standard type for wartime construction in the 1940s, and was built in the workshops of other companies during World War 2. This one, however, was built on 'home territory' at Crewe. Currently main line certificated and part of the pool of locos based at Carnforth for workings like the 'Scarborough Spa Express' - pictures in the album of this train.
