The ex GWR Large Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5164 has began the path to be returned to steam again as the Erlestoke Manor Fund have launched their Big Large Prairie Appeal to help rase funds and gather new volunteers to help with the up coming overhaul of No. 5164 with the aim of having the locomotive in steam again by late 2027 or 2028. The ownership of the ex GWR Large Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5164 has now been transferred to the Erlestoke Manor Fund following a deal reached with the locomotive’s previous owners the 5164 Preservation Group. No. 5164’s long term future at the Severn Valley Railway is now secured and will now soon be in line for a overhaul. No. 5164 has been on display at Barrow Hill Roundhouse following the end of its boiler ticket in 2014.

The former Great Western Railway ‘Large Prairie’ 2-6-2T No. 5164 has had a change in ownership as it has been announced that its previous owners the 5164 Preservation Group have transferred ownership of No. 5164 to the Erlestoke Manor Fund. Which will give the locomotive a brighter future with them and the Severn Valley Railway’s locomotive fleet. No. 5164 is to remain on display undercover at Barrow Hill Roundhouse for the present time till her time for her 10 year overhaul.

5164 is on loan to Barrow Hill Roundhouse till such time it can be moved back to the Severn Valley Railway for a overhaul.
