The overhaul on the only Ashford built LMS 8F 2-8-0 to survived in preservation No. 48624 is now underway at Loughborough shed.

8F No. 48624 has now been withdrawn from service for her 10-year overhaul. She had one extra day in service on Wednesday, 31st July. Please change status to Stored, or Overhaul.

LMS 8F No. 48624, the former Red Eight, is to work her final service trains at the Great Central Railway on 27th and 28th July. Newbie 48305 will also be in action, in what might be the last paring of 8Fs for quite some time.

48624 will be visiting the Bluebell Railway for there Giants of Steam event taking the place of Oliver Cromwell.

The last of the Southern Railway built examples, 48624 was restored in 2009 and is now running regularly, particularly in the Summer months, currently sporting a smart but inauthentic LMS XP Maroon as 8624
