42085 is a development by Fairburn of the Stanier 2-6-4T.

42085 is a development by Ivatt of the Stanier 2-6-4T. These class 4 tank locos were popular for suburban work and use on empty stock working at major termini. First preserved in a spurious caledonian Raiway blue livery (see the album photo for this) it looks much better in correct BR paintwork - especially with the 'Plum & Spilt Milk' coaching stock in the photo)Ideal for preserved operation, its a pity only two survive.
