Restoration has now begun on Rhiwnant;
The cab has been removed and a new one being made, the boiler has been taken to the boiler smiths and repairs being undertaken including new tubes. The saddle tank is sitting beside the frames and requires only minor repair. The end of the frames will require slight repair which will be started shortly.
Rhiwnant should be running by June/July 2004 and will visit the village of Elan near Rhyader in Wales where it used to work, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Edward VII opening the dam and his use of Rhiwnant on that day.
