The remains of No. 34073 "249 Squadron" can be seen at West Coast Railways base at Carnforth in Lancashire as I saw the locomotive outside on my way home from Scotland.

No. 34073 "249 Squadron" current location is West Coast Railway Company s depot at Carnforth in Lancashire. It was sold to them in 2014 where it is stored and thought to be used as spare parts for the overhaul s and maintenance on 34067 "Tangmere", 34016 "Bodmin" and 35018 "British India Line". Tho as for restoration on the loco is currently unknown but never say never in the preservation movement.

This is one of several Bulleid Pacifics that still await restoration after withdrawal in the 1960's and a period in Woodham's scrapyard at Barry, South Wales. This has been an advantage as this loco has been moved to Bury so that parts of it can be used to repair No 34067 'Tangmere' following its failure when the combination lever came adrift on one of its sets of valve gear.
