It has been announced that No. 16 "Mannin" is to be brought out of the Port Erin Museum where it has been since 1975 to be steamed again in time for the 150th anniversary of railways on the Isle of Man in 2023. The locomotive was the last 2-4-0T to be built for the Isle of Man railways in 1926 and the most powerful. No. 16 will be moved to the workshops at Douglas next winter.

The Isle of Man was always 2-4-0T country, with very rare exceptions. The IoMR favoured Beyer Peacock's locos and several series of these were built, from the pioneer locos right up to this, the last IoMR loco to be built, 'Mannin'. The only one built in this order, it represents the final development of the Manx 2-4-0T and has a larger boiler than the earlier locos. However, all the Beyer Peacock characteristics are there - the outside framed bogie, the lack of a bunker behind the cab and the angled cylinders.
