The Best Friend is now in Atlanta, GA at the Norfolk Southern's David Goode office building on Peachtree St.

CHESSIEMIKE provided the following information:

"I don't know if you are aware that this locomotive is two engines in one. This engine was built from the original plans, with an adjustment for gauge, in 1926.  It got a new boiler in 1969.  At some point it had a 302cid. engine and automatic transmission installed in the tender under the box with a chain drive to the axle.  The two times I saw it they had enough steam for the whistle, but the 302 was providing the propulsion."

I don't know if the steam engine still works or not."
