Now JS5029 is under overhaul, the museum planned to repair it to dynamic display.

The current status of JS 5029 is display as the locomotive is on display in the Tiefa Coal Steam Loco Exhibition Hall at Daqing in Liaoning, China, since 2004.

JS 5029 which was built at Dalian Locomotive works in 1957 is preserved and on display in the Tiefa Coal Steam Loco Exhibition Hall at Daqing in Liaoning, China. The JS Class 2-8-2 had worked in the Meihekou aera in the 1980s and later worked in the Anshan aera of China Rail round 1994. It came to the Tiefa Coal Mine System in 1998 where it was a shed pet used on special workings on the system until about 2004, when it was set aside to be preserved.

JS Class 2-8-2 No. 5029 is still intacked at the Tiefa Coal Mine System at Daqing in Liaoning, China and today is on display in their Tiefa Steam Locomotive Museum at Diaobingshan. No. 5029 was a shed pet on the Tiefa Coal Mine System and some special trains there until the mid 2000s.
